In May of this year, the European Commission, together with Microsoft, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, drafted a code of conduct against online hate speech. The code established that such messages have to be deleted within 24 hours. Six months later, the European Commission is not satisfied with the progress made, according to the Financial Times. EU Commissioner Jourova said, "If Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Microsoft want to convince me and the ministers that it is not necessary to address this legally, they will have to try harder during the coming months."
