Women still earn much less than men in the Netherlands. On average, the yearly income of women is 7.2 percent (2,513 euros) lower, according to the biannual National Salary Survey of more than 100,000 respondents. The survey is conducted by Intermediair and Nyenrode University. "The difference in salary is declining. Especially among younger women the difference is relatively small," the Intermediair director says. "It is up to employers and women to press on. Employers should reward according to function and value; women may take a stronger position in the negotiations."
