There were officially 199 attacks against refugees in Germany in 2014. These include incitement to hatred, criminal damage and assault. In a joint investigation, journalists from CORRECTIV and Spiegel Online have reviewed 157 cases. Their results are depicted through graphs: Suspects were identified in only in 50 cases; of these 50, only 15 led to convictions, while the other cases were mostly closed. In 107 cases, there were no suspects. Of the 199 attacks, 172 are officially considered politically motivated. The number of attacks rose sharply in 2015.
