Fifteen Hungarian NGOs have recently asked the relevant committee to reject the list of Hungarian candidates to the Strasbourg court. They argue that the process of selection instituted by the Hungarian government was unfair, non-transparent and inconsistent, thus the signatories want the committee to advise the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to reject the list. Under the pressure of the NGOs, the Hungarian government finally withdrew three candidates already selected to the positions of Hungarian judges of the European Court of Human Rights and launched a new call.
