On April 28 and 29, Spain was examined by the UN Committee against Torture. The questions posed by the members of the committee centered on the use of solitary confinement, the impunity of police officers convicted of torture, the lack of regulation of the crime of torture according to the Convention, the abuses committed in migration control at the Ceuta and Melilla borders, and the use of force in public demonstrations. In the coming weeks, the committee will publish its concluding observations regarding Spain, as well as specific recommendations.
