The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights acknowledged in the new report The right to privacy in the digital age that a bulk collection of private data and mass surveillance is against international law. ‟Digital communications are vulnerable to electronic surveillance and interception—and it has become evident that new technologies are being developed covertly to facilitate these practices, with chilling efficiency,” Navy Pillay said during a press conference announcing the report’s publication.
