Umberto Veronesi, who dedicated his life to many civil liberties causes, including euthanasia (the right to die with dignity) and the legalization of cannabis, has died at the age of 90. Born in Milan in 1925, Veronesi was an oncologist, a politician and a researcher who spoke openly about many forgotten issues, such as the right to health for detainees and abolishing life sentences and the death penalty.
