Representatives of
NGOs met with the members of the Venice Commission who are preparing an
opinion on the new Police Act and other Polish legal amendments. Representatives of
the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights focused on drawbacks of the act: overly easy access of police forces to
internet data; a lack of adequate guarantees of professional secrecy protection; no obligation to inform a person that was subjected to operational activities
about the procedure; and lack of any supervision over special forces operations to acquire internet data.
