A 14-year-old girl from London who wanted her body preserved in case she could be cured in the future won a historic legal fight shortly before her death.
The girl, who died in October, was terminally ill with cancer and wanted to be cryogenically preserved, but only her mother supported the idea. She sought the court's backing to let her mother, and not her father, decide what happened to her body. She wrote to the judge that she wanted "to live longer" and did not want "to be buried underground."
