Two years ago the Spanish government imposed the payment of judicial fees in order to take a case to court. This spurred the emergence of a movement demanding the removal of these, as they hinder access to justice. The work done has borne fruit and the Ministry of Justice has now announced the elimination of them for natural persons. It is still unclear, however, where the more than 500 million euros collected have gone, and how redress will be given to those who were unable to pay the fees and could not take their case to court or those who made efforts to pay the fees.
