One in three refugees in camps on the Greek island of Chios has witnessed a suicide there, reveals an alarming new report. Of the estimated 3,782 migrants living in camps on the island, 39 percent have witness a death there, with 87 percent of these saying it had occurred because of self-harm or suicide. The report, produced by the Refugee Rights Data Project, includes one particularly disturbing account of a man who witnessed another set himself on fire. Charities on the island say the situation in the camps has reached a "breaking point" and new services are needed urgently.
