Francesca Danese has been appointed by Rome's mayor, Ignazio Marino, to the post of city councilor for social policies. She is the president of the Lazio Cesv (Center for Voluntary Work), started in 1997 with the aim of helping the many organizations of volunteers operating in Italy. Ms. Danese will succeed Rita Cutini, who decided to resign after the recent unrest in Rome's suburbs.
