Dutch police have registered more than three times as many incidents related to the discrimination of Muslims this year than in 2015, research by the Verwey-Jonker Institute shows. There were 446 incidents in 2016, compared to 142 last year. "The increase in the amount of incidents of Muslim discrimination is most likely a result of the increased societal tensions surrounding terrorist attacks in Western Europe and the arrival of Muslim refugees," the Institute says. The total number of incidents related to racism, anti-Semitism and violence by the extreme right last year grew by 73, to 4,165.
