According to media reports, during recent anti-government demonstrations against judicial reforms in Poland, the police reportedly mounted surveillance of an opposition politician and two NGO activists. The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights notes that this was yet another example of worrisome police activities observed over recent months and a possible breach of individuals’ rights and freedoms, such as the right to privacy or freedom of speech in the context of freedom of assembly.
