The first hearing on the matter of the December 2015 amendment to the Act on Constitutional Tribunal is scheduled for March 8 and 9. Among others, the Polish ombudsman for the human rights has strongly criticized the new amendment, the legality of which will be examined by the Constitutional Tribunal. Some of the changes are: rulings are to be issued in the order that the cases were brought to court; decisions must be made by two thirds of the judges; and raising the minimum number of judges ruling from 9 to 13. The new legal changes have raised concern from the EU and human rights groups.
