The lower house of Poland's Parliament has adopted a law that limits pensions of officers that served in the Communist secret police, even though they were positively vetted in 1990. The bill specifies that the amount of their retirement benefits will depend more on their six months’ service in the Communist secret police than on a positive vetting in 1990 and 15 years in service for democratic Poland. According to the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, the new procedure is disproportionate.
