Newly built or remodeled buildings of public use must be accessible. This condition has been in place for years by the Building Act, though some investors still do not respect it. In such cases, authorities should not approve the building for permanent use until the requirements are met. The Czech ombudsman is now handling a case of a newly built community cultural center without the required accessibility, yet approved by construction authorities. The decision is unfortunately final, and the statutory period for requesting a review and cancellation of occupancy permit has passed.
