A woman in the Netherlands has reported to the Overweight Discrimination Hotline because she was refused a job as a cashier due to her being overweight. According to the women, the job interview was positive and she assumed she had a good chance to get the job, but still was turned down. She is especially hurt by the motivation of the refusal. "I am considered a risk, because 'with overweight one is bound to be ill more often,' I was told. Moreover, the chairs behind the counter wouldn't be able to carry me and the workwear would need to be ordered in a bigger size."
