The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights has intervened in the case of Daniel, who for years has been suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, and who has been sentenced to nine months in prison for attempting to falsify a document. In a remand center, he was immediately placed in a cell for high-risk prisoners. He currently stays in a solitary cell, in which he spends 23 hours a day. Prison authorities do not want to allow him to work and they do not offer him any therapy. Furthermore, Daniel told the HFHR that he does not have access to all the medicine that he had been given in the hospital.
