Internet service providers in the United States will now be allowed to speed up or slow down different companies' data, and charge consumers according to the services they access, though they will be obliged to disclose such practices. The net neutrality that applied until now was introduced under President Obama and served as an example for similar rules agreed by the European Union. The US Federal Communications Commission voted three to two to change "net neutrality" by reducing restrictions on US broadband providers' ability to prioritise one service's data over another.
