A proposed constitutional amendment banning the resettlement of migrants in Hungary will be resubmitted to Parliament by Jobbik, a far-right opposition party. The amendment was originally submitted by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, but last week it failed to gain the needed two-thirds majority in Parliament, largely because Jobbik members abstained from voting after the government refused to scrap a separate scheme allowing foreigners to buy residency rights. Now, however, the party’s chairman, Gabor Vona, says he plans to resubmit the exact same amendment.
