Three men go on trial today in Luxembourg accused of leaking thousands of confidential documents revealing corporate tax deals. A former auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is accused of passing the documents to a French journalist, who broke the story. The auditor is charged with theft and money laundering, among other things, and a former PwC coworker of his faces the same charges for a different leak. The journalist is charged as an accomplice. Luxembourg has laws protecting whistleblowers, but they are confined to exposing illegal practices. Civil rights groups have attacked the case.
