Efforts to enshrine both heterosexual and homosexual partnerships in Lithuania’s Civil Code were thwarted at the very first stage – the draft amendment proposed by the Liberal Party was rejected, having received the support of only 29 MPs. Currently, same-sex relationships are not legally recognized in Lithuania.
