The Lithuanian Parliament on July 11 unanimously voted to abolish private prosecution in all cases, including sexual harassment. Previously, victims had to gather the evidence and prove culpability themselves. From now on, it will be sufficient for victims to register the complaint with, for example, the police, and officers will carry out the investigation from there on out. To compare, private prosecution in Estonia and Latvia was abolished back in 2010.
