The special services coordinator of Poland's Internal Security Agency has said that the previous government allegedly kept over 50 journalists under surveillance. In response, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights has pointed out that any form of surveillance of journalists by state bodies may pose a threat to reporter's privilege. Considering this, the fact that the government published the names of the journalists under surveillance is alarming. When public, such information can additionally stigmatize those on the list and make it difficult for them to keep their informers’ trust.
