The Court of Cassation, Italy's highest court, has issued its judgment on a stepchild adoption case involving a gay couple. The court upheld the ruling of a lower court, which granted permission for a woman to adopt her female partner's child. This and other decisions of courts are creating a legal precedent, which will make it easier for same-sex couples to adopt each other's children. The Court of Cassation said that it made its decision based on the interest of the child.
