Italy’s deputy prime minister has finally allowed the last of 177 migrants held on board the ship Diciotti to disembark, ending a standoff that had forced them to remain on the boat while it was docked at a Sicilian port. Matteo Salvini's about-face came after he was placed under formal investigation for illegal detention and kidnapping for refusing to allow the migrants to disembark. Albania and Ireland have agreed to take in 20 and 25 migrants, respectively, while the Italian Catholic Church will take in the remaining people to "put an end to this dramatic situation and sufferance."
