The European Court of Justice has ruled that costs of residence permits for non-European migrants in Italy — where third-country nationals are asked to pay a fee ranging from 80 to 200 euros — are excessive and disproportionate. The Italian law has been condemned as running counter to EU directives on the subject, whose primary aim is the facilitation of the integration process. The Italian administrative tribunal will now have to announce its position on the matter of repealing current policies.
