From 3pm CET on July 14, 2014, the Irish government will defend its human rights record before the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva - Ireland’s fourth report under the ICCPR. The hearing is expected to cover issues such as: redress for victims of institutional & other abuse; prison conditions; non-discrimination; and Traveller ethnicity.

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties will lead a delegation to take part in proceedings. Its civil society Shadow Report on Ireland's record under the ICCPR can be read here. A live stream of the hearing will be available here.
