Following a government-commissioned report, medical cannabis could soon be given to patients with certain illnesses in Ireland. Patients with multiple sclerosis, severe epilepsy, or undergoing chemotherapy could get access once the Irish government approves the proposal. The government may give the green light despite the report’s warnings that "an absence of scientific data demonstrating the effectiveness of cannabis products" and warned of "insufficient information on safety during long-term use for the treatment of chronic medical conditions."
