Iraqi PhD student Ameer Alkhawlany has been deported back to his home country, a representative of his has said. Ameer came to Poland in 2014 to study, and in October 2016 he was detained and placed in a guarder center for foreigners. Ameer’s right to legally defend himself was not respected at any point during his deportation proceedings, and he was not even given access to case files. In fact, it still remains unclear exactly why he was considered to be a threat to security.
