Due to heavy social opposition, the Hungarian Parliament has finally decided not to discuss the bill allowing legislators to hollow out registered partnership. Registered partnership is an institution by which gay couples can gain official recognition to their relationship, thus becoming able to visit one another at the hospital, inherit the other's belongings, or possess shared assets. The scandalous proposal of the government was challenged by four civil society organizations, including HCLU, launching a petition that was signed by over 2,000 people in a single day.
