Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks has published a report about the human rights situation in Germany. Along with some positive aspects he also calls for improvements. He recommends strengthening the control of the intelligence services with more staff and expert knowledge. Germany should also establish an independent police complaints mechanism. Furthermore, he demands minimum standards for reception of asylum seekers and refugees, better integration and better access to medical services. Additionally the fight against racism needs to be intensified.
