Sweden must improve its asylum laws, particularly with regard to cases that involve unaccompanied minors, the Council of Europe's human rights commissioner has said. Ending a five-day visit to the country, Nils Muižnieks urged the government to "move beyond emergency mode" in its treatment of asylum seekers. With asylum numbers declining, Muižnieks called on the country to ease emergency regulations passed in 2015, when a record 163,000 asylum seekers arrived in Sweden, and remove obstacles to integration and family reunification.
