International Trial Watch – Catalan Referendum Case, a platform composed of experts on human rights issues, reported that more than 10 human rights organisations intend to send international observers to oversee the upcoming Catalan independence trial. Among the organisations that have requested to take part is Antigone, an Italian NGO and CILD member, which is committed to protecting fundamental rights within the criminal and penitentiary system. The aim of the platform is to monitor respect for the rule of law and human rights during the trial.
