Germany’s foreign minister will visit Auschwitz during his upcoming trip to Poland, as a reminder for the most horrible breakdown of civilization in his country. Ahead of his official visit, Heiko Maas told to Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza that "European values, such as freedom, the rule of law and respect for human rights, are at the heart of the EU and are not subject to negotiations." He expressed his government's support for the ongoing rule of law procedure and the dialogue between the European Commission and the Polish government.
