The Italian state receives 7.2 billion euros each year from taxes paid by foreigners. Taxes from foreign-born workers grew by 13.4 percent between 2010 and 2016, whereas those contributed by Italians diminished by 1.6 percent. According to Fondation Leone Moressa, the impact of foreign labor is not negligible. Lombardy has the most foreign-born taxpayers, with 503,000. The average tax per capita for foreigners is about 3,127 euros per year, with the highest average, 4,940, in Milan. It is proof that a qualified, foreign-born workforce is both well integrated and much needed in the economy.
