An appeals court in Trento ruled on February 23 that twins born in Canada from a surrogate mother are recognized as sons of their two Italian fathers. This recognition, based on the emotional and human aspects instead of the biological and genetic ones, is a great step forward for gay couples in Italy. As one of the fathers wrote on Twitter, "It is a historic chapter for the 'rainbow families.' When you raise, take care and love a son, then you are a father, mother, parent."
