The Finnish Parliament has adopted a legislative proposal for the legalization of same-sex marriage, by a narrow majority of 105 MPs voting in favor and 92 voting against. According to press agency Reuters, opponents argued above all that every child has the right to a father and a mother. Finland is the twelfth European and last Scandinavian country to introduce same-sex marriage. The Netherlands was the first country worldwide to do so, in 2001.
