Sharp criticism has been directed at European politicians by Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev. Current refugee policy is a big mistake, Medvedev said in an interview with the American magazine TIME. "The European Union has become a hostage of its own imbalanced migration policy," he argues. "To be honest, I feel sorry for Europe." According to Medvedev, the refugee crisis plays into the hands of right-wing populists. Many Europeans are scared of losing their jobs to migrants willing to do the same work for far less money.
