The US administration is dragging its heels to comply with a data privacy pact known as Privacy Shield, frustrating the European Commission. The EU commissioner for justice, Vera Jourova, on Monday told reporters in Brussels that the US has yet to fulfil its side of the bargain. Jourova met last week with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to discuss issues that remain between the two sides. Privacy Shield is meant to safeguard the privacy of European citizens' personal data whenever it is processed by US tech firms like Google or Facebook.
