The European Union has told the Kremlin to release "without delay" the hundreds of people arrested during protests across Russia on Sunday. Russia's main opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, was among those arrested yesterday and appeared in court earlier Monday. He is likely to face charges for organizing banned protests. Sunday's protests drew thousands in cities across Russia, including Saint Petersburg, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Moscow. The protesters urged PM Dmitry Medvedev to quit over corruption allegations.
