Ethnic profiling by the police is more structural than initially thought, and police are having difficulties approaching the issue. This was uncovered in the internal police reports that television program Brandpunt published on September 6. A survey of over 500 policemen in Oost-Brabant is one of the very few investigations that the police have conducted into the nature and extent of the problem. "The general conclusion is that the majority of policemen in Oost-Brabant apply ethnic profiling and are convinced that the current procedure is justified," concludes the survey.
