A case before the Belgian Court of Cassation about a Muslim receptionist who was not allowed to wear a headscarf at work has been brought to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. The court has to determine whether this is discrimination on the grounds of religion. After the German Federal Constitutional Court's ruling in 2015 against a blanket headscarf ban in schools, the current case is being closely watched by German civil society. A number of people working against discrimination have submitted comments to the Opinion of Advocate General Juliane Kokott.
