Dutch trade unions FNV and CNV call on the government to halt the demolition of the healthcare sector. With a petition they have collected over 100,000 signatures and thousands of harrowing stories from healthcare workers. "Full countertops, filth and vermin. I’m ashamed that our elderly people have to get through their final phase like this," writes one of them. Since January 1, 2015, long-term care has largely become a responsibility of municipalities and health insurance firms. The unions have handed a black book to the Dutch House of Representatives.
