Research by platform Reporter 2021 shows that half of Dutch primary schools feel that the Child Abuse Hotline doesn't work properly. Only 20 percent notice a clear improvement in children after an alert has been made. Each year, an estimated 120,000 Dutch children are mistreated, neglected or sexually abused. Schools play an important role in combating child abuse, since they see the children five days a week. However, only 11 percent of alerts come from schools. The schools indicate they encountered high thresholds for filing a report.
