The Office of the Public Prosecutor and police officials have requested a visa requirement for Albanians to reduce the influx of serious criminals from Albania. Since the beginning of 2016, Amsterdam police have continuously come across Albanian criminals with strong ties to the drugs trade and human trafficking. In a series of investigations, authorities have found Albanian gangs in expensive apartments with dozens of kilos of cocaine, hash and heroin. During raids, police teams have also found automatic weapons, machines to package drugs and stolen goods.
