Employment agencies, employers and insurance companies in the Netherlands force labor migrants to pay much too high contributions for their health insurance. Part of the money flows back to the employers through payback schemes, which results in savings of millions of euros on labor costs. In a joint letter, three Dutch trade unions call on the minister of social affairs and employment, Lodewijk Asscher, to put an end to these practices swiftly. According to the chairman of one of the trade unions, it is a pure form of exploitation that also pushes people out of the labor market.
