A foundation for Islamic education in Amsterdam has made two requests for government financing for schools in The Hague. The schools would be based on Islamic principles and principles of a second religion. According to the Administrative Division of the Council of State, it is unclear from the articles of association which direction the schools want to take, other than the Islamic direction. Projections indicated that there would be insufficient students to start a school with a solely Islamic basis. Therefore, the state secretary for education's refusal to finance the schools was justified.
