Denmark’s ruling Venstre (Liberal) party has announced that is changing its position and now supports abolishing the language on blasphemy in the country’s law code. The party's decision to change its stance means that the paragraph will likely be abolished by Parliament as early as Friday, June 2. The 151-year-old law, which criminalizes acts including burning sacred texts such as the Quran or Bible, is highly controversial, and both the EU and Council of Europe have urged the government to remove the law.
